Mortal Shell 2 Harden: Vatra Seal and Perfect Harden
How Harden works on Vatra’s Seal, what a Perfect Harden changes, and when guard or parry is the better defensive job.
Equip Vatra’s Seal
Harden belongs to Vatra’s Seal. Hold the input to stone against the next hit; it is not a universal action attached to every Seal. If the action is unavailable, check the equipped Seal before changing the timing.
Learn the two timings
An early Harden still negates the next hit but spends the meter. A Perfect Harden at impact negates the hit and refreshes the meter immediately. Practice one readable attack first rather than trying to learn every enemy at once.
Use Harden as a reset
When a wind-up is unclear, Harden buys a readable next decision: survive the hit, create distance and watch the next animation. It is a defensive fallback, not a reason to stand inside every combo or replace all movement.
Compare the three defensive jobs
Untarnished provides guard, Infinite provides parry and Vatra provides Harden. Choose the Seal whose failure state you can survive against the current enemy, then retest the same attack after switching so the comparison stays meaningful.
