Mortal Shell 2 How Long to Beat: Story and Completion Time

How long to beat Mortal Shell 2: plan a 20–40 hour first run, then separate story progress, exploration, achievements and New Game Plus time.

Plan the first run by goal

For story progress, budget 20 to 40 hours: the lower end assumes a direct regional route and the upper end includes dungeon searches, Shell hunting and repeated boss attempts. Decide before starting whether this run is for the ending, exploration or achievements, because each goal adds a different kind of time.

Story route versus completion route

A story-focused run follows the regional gates, keeps one Shell and weapon upgraded, and leaves optional cleanup for later. A completion run adds 49 Beacon locations, 75 Tarstones, 16 weapon and sidearm pickups, 11 map fragments and optional NPC scenes. These are separate passes, not one mandatory corridor.

Why achievements take longer

The current roadmap estimates 40 to 60 hours for all 53 achievements and expects two full runs plus part of a third for Shell Memories. Finish tutorial-only objectives before leaving the prologue, then keep a written missable and version-sensitive list beside the map.

How to keep the estimate honest

Record the next gate, the current Shell and the next upgrade before each session. If a route produces repeated deaths, stop and change one variable: defensive Seal, weapon job, Shell or map order. A short route with a stable build beats a high-risk detour that loses Gloom.
